From me to you, from here to there, from heart to mind it winds . . .
this thought, this scheme, this simple scene from soul to soul unfolding -
creating a tie between us.
Carefully selected, collected, connected, and interjected,
my words give birth, go forth, hoping to be of worth to you -
strengthening the tie between us.
Now released, the Freed, unleashed, run loose with wild abandon,
running, tumbling, skipping, even tripping -
across the tie between us.
Where are you receiving these? At sofa? Table? Chair?
Across the state? Across the world? Into beyond I am unfurled,
hurled by the tie between us.
Am I Party Crasher, Squatter, Intruder in your space or am I
Welcomed Guest, new found Friend, Companion to embrace -
introduced by the tie between us?
Once seized, once perceived, this poem has served its purpose.
Whether rejected or accepted, it still survives, oxygen supplied
through the tie between us.
From mind to heart, it plays its part, this valentine I'm sending.
I am giving you a friendly hug, sending you a mental tug,
pulling on the tie between us.
"Blessed be the tie that binds, our hearts in Christian love." John Fawcett, Theologian
