"Mommy," rang a sweet little voice from the backseat of my van, "I wish I had a key that would open my heart." I peered through my rear view mirror at the sweet five year old face looking back at me. "If I could unlock my heart, I would let Jesus come in. I would lock Him up to stay."

Those precious words started a life changing conversation that led to her salvation. What a beautiful and simplistic understanding of the Lord. We do hold the key to our own hearts. We guard it for fear of getting hurt. We decide who we let in. Sometimes we invite others who reject us. But, Jesus freely accepts us. The invitation is there for the taking. John 19:9 says, "I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture." No key is needed, for nothing is locked.

Not only can we rest in the assurance of His acceptance, we can know that He will never leave us. We do not have to lock Him in our hearts to stay. He stays willingly. Romans 8:38-39 says, "For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Jesus is knocking at the door of your heart. Will you let Him in?

I think this is a lovely devotion. You did a splendid job in the beginning of telling a true life story that pretty much anyone can relate to. I might suggest that instead of the last sentence, you end with a prayer instead. That way people who don't know how to pray will have a perfect example in front of them. I also thought the scriptures that you chose were a perfect match for your message. Good job.

Oh how I loved this sweet and authentic message. Your little girl pulled me into her heart as probably everyone else who reads this.
Great job. God bless~

"Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings" I cannot remember where in the Bible this quotes comes from but I did think of it when your daughter said she would like a key to lock Jesus in her heart. Sometimes our children say the profoundest things and your using this as the 'key' to your article tells us how much your daughter's statement impacted you, as it did the readers of your story. A job well done in writing this article.
