The Lighthouse protects
Its beacon of light shines bright
Saving many lives

It is surrounded
By rocky edges of stone
Going out to sea

Waters gently flow
Lapping up to touch the land
Showing its splendor

Clouds softly billow
Against skies of azure blue
Blazing sun burns bright

Without a warning
The once peaceful setting turns
Helpless ships adrift

The waves come crashing
Down with tumultuous verve
Against the vessel

Turbulent Waters
Continually crashing down
Upon the liner

The gale wind batters
Against the craft pitching it
Ahead without choice

Unexpectedly
Feeling lost and terrified
Of what will happen

The sailors have to
Face the fact that they may not
Survive this journey

Suddenly a glow
Is seen in the dark night sky
As a prayer is said

Just as it began
The day starts to dawn once more
A fresh new morning

Will the past repeat
Itself for a second time
Without due warning

If we look ahead
And stay focused on the Lord
We will stay on course

Safe in the harbor
Sheltered from storms of the deep
Rest for weary souls

This is really lovely. It has this great sense of depth. I think the analogy is awesome.

I have always liked light houses but this poem provides even a deeper experience that I will carry with me. Thank you.
