The Flat Out Truth…..
“You can’t handle the truth.” This line has been voted as one of the best movie lines of all time and for very good reason.
Today, we live in a society filled with half-truths, deception and flat out lies. Are we truly a people that can’t handle the truth? For most of us, the truth does not always come packaged in a way that is easy for us to embrace. Not only that, the truth challenges us to look within and to examine ourselves for who we truly are. An imperfect people in need of a perfect Savior. This is that truth that Jesus referred to when He spoke to His disciples saying:
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free”(John 8:32, KJV).
This truth of which Jesus spoke can only be discovered when we make a conscious decision to embrace Him and His way of life. This can prove very difficult in a world that that values allowing everyone the freedom to define their own truth. During His life on the earth, Jesus gave an answer to those who may find themselves questioning what is and what is not truth. In His response to those who may find themselves lost in a world filled with individual truths, He said:
“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh to the Father, but by me” (John 14:6, KJV).
So, in spite of everyone else’s truth, true freedom can only be found by accepting the truth of Jesus Christ. Now, that’s the flat out truth!
“Can you handle THIS truth?”
