Irritating Delight
Screeeech; the buzz of the alarm sounded, and it’s still dark outside!
How annoying is that?
Yet, I have a job that I can go to today.
It appeased my soul.
Clank and rattle goes this pile of junk slowly down the road.
How exasperating is that?
Yet, I am able to get to work on time today.
It pacified my soul.
On and on goes the office gossip asking my opinion about the sleazy new guy.
How harassing is that?
Yet, I dodge the question and comment on the beautiful weather today.
It satisfied my soul.
Begging, slobbering and reaching for another hand-out is the same beggar on the street.
How disturbing is that?
Yet, I really do have spare change from my lunch to give today.
It quieted my soul.
Uninviting and bland are the same beans and rice for dinner tonight.
How disheartening is that?
Yet, I do have food to eat today!
It gratified my soul.
Aching and painful is my shoulder, my knee and my overworked back.
How troubling is that?
Yet, I made it through and I now can relax for the day.
It reassured my soul.
I toss, I turn, I think, I toss, I turn; no sleep.
How frustrating is that?
Yet, I consider my job, my home, my food and my health today.
It blessed my soul.
With a smile I thanked God again for an irritating yet delightful day.
