You Are My Shield, Lord
Psalm 57:7(NLT)—My heart is confident in you, O God; no wonder I can sing your praises.
Father God,
I am so tired of being hurt.
I try guarding my heart,
But then I begin to feel more for
Someone than they feel for me,
And when they walk away
My heart breaks from rejection.
Then to guard my heart
I try to have no feelings at all,
But then I feel guilty
Because I don’t show my love for them.
We are to love our neighbors
As we love ourselves.
I begin to help someone
And it brings friendship.
Then when that person
Can make it on their own,
And doesn’t need me anymore,
They walk away.
I hurt all over again.
You know my heart, Lord.
I feel deeply for people.
Please guard my heart for me,
I don’t seem to do a very good job.
Please watch-over my heart
So I can move on
Without worrying about
Rejection and hurt
So I may
Serve you better.
You are my shield and strength, Lord
And I praise your name on high
And I love you with all my heart.
You are faithful and true.
Forgive me for
Making it all about me.
I want to glorify you.
Thank you for guarding my heart.
I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen
