Topic: Question (05/24/12)

By Melinda Melton

Why am I here Lord? What is my purpose?

Its a mystery to me but I sometimes pick up clues from the Word. My mind is a constant battlefield and I wonder what people see in me that I cant see. Why do they tell me that I am so peaceful when my heart and mind churn with burning questions of why.

A friend says, You are so easy to talk to and you always have the right words to say.

Really? What did I say? It must have been the Holy Spirit because I never remember.

Mark 13:11 - And when they bring you to trial and deliver you up, do not be anxious beforehand what you are to say; but say whatever is given you in that hour, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.

Im a quiet person and I spend more time listening and observing, than talking. Im a magnet to people who need to talk. Whether it is in the check out line at the grocery store or observing art at the gallery, people are compelled to tell me their troubles, their memories or life stories. I smile and I listen.

1 Peter 3:4 - but let it be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable jewel of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious

At times Ill ask the Lord, Why are people so selfish and forget their morals?

Luke 6:35 - But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for he is kind to the ungrateful and the selfish.

Heavenly Father, it feels like my world is caving in. My husband is sick, our finances are depleted and my job is in jeopardy. I dont understand. What am I to do?

Jer 29:11-12 For I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you

Lord, Im tired. I listen to others and help them with their problems and the burden is heavy, yet there is no one to listen or help me. Wont you send me a friend, someone I can talk to?

Matthew 11:28 - Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

So, what is my purpose?

MT 22: 37-39 And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

Oh this was so well done! Brilliant entry. I loved this truthful piece. All of us have asked so many of the questions you presented, and the scriptures providing the "answers." This was fabulous...Thank you for this awesome and profound reminder that God has ALL the answers ALL the time.

God bless~

I love how the piece began with 'Why?' and ended with the answer 'Love.' Also, I found it very moving how every qustion was covered with the Word, like a warm blanket, or a Mother's hug.

What a tender, touching, delightful piece. Now, where did I put that box of Kleenex...

This is a beautiful piece, reflecting the confidence we have in the Word to be our answer.

Nicely done.

I love this! I have asked everyone of these questions myself. You did a great job of finding the perfect answer in the Scriptures.

People migrate to the love of God and you must have Him living in you completely and thoroughly. I hope and pray He hears the cry of your heart. Wonderfully presented! Great job!

Beautifully written. Sometimes I talk too much and have asked the Holy Spirit to help me be a better listener, especially to those with needs. . .and He has.
