“Why am I here Lord? What is my purpose?”
It’s a mystery to me but I sometimes pick up clues from the Word. My mind is a constant battlefield and I wonder what people see in me that I can’t see. Why do they tell me that I am so peaceful when my heart and mind churn with burning questions of why.
A friend says, “You are so easy to talk to and you always have the right words to say.”
Really? What did I say? It must have been the Holy Spirit because I never remember.
Mark 13:11 - And when they bring you to trial and deliver you up, do not be anxious beforehand what you are to say; but say whatever is given you in that hour, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.
I’m a quiet person and I spend more time listening and observing, than talking. I’m a magnet to people who need to talk. Whether it is in the check out line at the grocery store or observing art at the gallery, people are compelled to tell me their troubles, their memories or life stories. I smile and I listen.
1 Peter 3:4 - but let it be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable jewel of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious
At times I’ll ask the Lord, “Why are people so selfish and forget their morals?”
Luke 6:35 - But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for he is kind to the ungrateful and the selfish.
Heavenly Father, it feels like my world is caving in. My husband is sick, our finances are depleted and my job is in jeopardy. I don’t understand. What am I to do?
Jer 29:11-12 For I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you
Lord, I’m tired. I listen to others and help them with their problems and the burden is heavy, yet there is no one to listen or help me. Won’t you send me a friend, someone I can talk to?
Matthew 11:28 - Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
So, what is my purpose?
Love.
MT 22: 37-39 And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
