Enigma to some yet known to none
Hedging the risks, playing it safe
The book, firmly closed lay gathering dust
Alone and falling apart on the shelf
A chapter on weakness, another on fear
Vulnerability, guilt and shame
Anger and bitterness came in succession
The final stages yet to be penned
The owner was kind and marked by compassion
He bought it with riches too great to be known
Yet fear and distrust that marred the pages
Rendered it fragile and useless to him
Then one night he took and opened the book
Tender and patient with utmost of care
In loving compassion he blotted the pages
Tore out some chapters, and wrote them anew
He gave them the titles of Faith, Hope and Love
Words from his pen flowed fully and free
Others left blank he marked, Faithfulness,
Fruitfulness, Holiness, Patience, Obedience and Peace
The footnote said; I have known shame and rejection,
Betrayal and hurt, was forsaken by all
Let go and Let God, by his Spirit he'll fill you
Your future and all yield entirely to Him
He cares, His compassions are new ever morning
His mercies, abundant forever endure
He loves with a love beyond all human measure
Faithful and limitless tender and pure

To trust a human being is to risk many things. To trust God is life, joy and peace.
