“I will, I will,” the young boy cries.
“I’ll do anything,” He really lies.
“I will do what you say,
Only, not in your will or in your way.”

Mom and dad are sad, you see
What they want is for him to be
Quick to answer, “Yes, I will.”
Quick to follow, yielded, still.

“I will, I will,” this Christian cries.
“I’ll do anything.” I really lie.
“I will do what you say,
“only, not in your will or in your way.

God is very sad, you see
What He wants is for me to be
Quick to answer, “Yes, I will”
Quick to follow, yielded, still.

Like a child, we can forget
What is best for us, and yet
God wants us to obey
In His will and in His way.

These were beautiful sentiments. Well written. It is so hard to say yes and so easy to say no to God's will.

A clever comparison and a lovely poem! It was striaght to the point and it cut to the heart!

Beautiful poem. God wants us to do His will, His way. Thanks for sharing.

Powerful! His will, His way, and in His time! Thanks for sharing. God bless,

Yvonne, this was a lovely poem and so right for the topic of "Obedience". That's why it was such a shame that we had to disqualify it because it was under the minimum word count. It came in at 133 words, and our minimum is 150. It was so close. We do have a little grace factor with the word count, but you were under that as well. So please keep entering the Challenge, but just keep the word count in mind. Even an introductory paragraph (not just a Scripture) would ensure that you were well covered. With love, Deb (Challenge Co-ordinator)
