Priceless Treasures
My eyes see the beauty of the sunset, the color of flowers of every kind.
They see the faces of my loved ones, their smiles, dimples and bright eyes.
My ears hear the sound of a spring time meadowlark, robin and call of a lonesome coyote.
They hear the cry of a newborn babe, the hello of a friend and the laughter of a loved one’s delight.
I am blessed to smell a field of newly mown hay, of bread baking in the oven and of cinnamon rolls on a cold, windy day.
I am able to smell the lilacs in spring and the roses in bloom and sunshine on my clothes hung out to dry.
I feel the touch of a little one’s wet kiss, the softness of a puppy’s ear, and the kind touch of a loved one’s hand on mine. I feel the warmth of a fire that chases away the chill in my cold toes and nose.
The tastes of fresh apple pie and of chocolate brownies delight my senses. And, oh, the taste of Mother’s roast dinner prepared with love and time.
All of these are counted priceless by me; things no amount of money can buy. I’ll not trade a single one but keep them always close to my heart.
