I was sitting at the breakfast table, enjoying a cup of tea as usual with my father; thousands of thoughts were rushing through my mind. I could still smell the sausage and eggs my father had cooked earlier, pans still lying on the stove. Dad always gets up before everyone else to make his own breakfast and spend time with God. He says “it’s important to start the day off with a good meal and prayer”.
I watch patiently as the man I look up to with upmost respect packs his lunch. He carefully makes his sandwich and puts a clip on his bag of Cheetoes (after snacking on a few). He stacks a diet coke and some fruit in the bottom of his cooler before adding his sandwich and Cheetoes. It always amazes me how dad is slow and methodical in everything he does. He is never rushed or hurried like most parents.
Before closing his lunch box he places his old bible gently in the top. “What’s that for” I ask him as he gently closes the lid. He said “it’s so I can read and down load the word of God into my mind on my lunch break possibly sharing it with others”. My dad is amazing, while most men surf the internet downloading all sorts of junk on their lunch breaks, my dad finds yet another way to spend time with God.
As my dad leaves for work, I find myself wondering how I can spend the rest of this day in fellowship with God. From this point on I will strive to share Gods love with others just like my dad does. I am convinced that I must find a way to spend time with God so he can down load his word through me as well.
