Their wares they do display
Black appears in white deceiving
To tempt and lead astray
Not the good they hail to bring
Impatiently they wait
Uninvited they rush in
To snag us with their bate
Neglect discerning origins
Assuredly enflames
Securing pathways to the mind
Their myriad of games
Ideas they flaunt will twist and turn
To plow down sense and reason
Imagination fans the spark
Of promise to be pleasing
Ambivalence blows soft
Over dandelion seed
Spreading want and got to have
Confusing it with need
Espousing vows never cease
Their insidious plan
Banking on the ignorant
Naivety of man
Sown in darkness, not of light
They begin seducing
Made of words in mind and mouth
Evil crop producing
Bondage happens in neglect
Garden over-run
Weeds do strangle healthy growth
Rob them of the sun
Flesh upon the slightest hint
Will fling gates open wide
With it bringing argument
Appealing to the pride
Look in the Word of God
It will reveal the truth
Matters not if we are old
Or are still in our youth
God has built His fortress strong
That stands to guard our mind
We must throw down lofty things
Imaginations bind
Guard our heart and mind His way
Don’t let intruders in
Many things look innocent
But lead the way to sin
We can rise above temptation
He will make us wise
As we gaze from fortress window
Until desire dies
