"How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” Romans 10:14-15 (NIV)
As Christians we are to spread the Word of God, share the Good News with those who may not know the Lord as we do. Many of us have a full-time job, a family, and our days are full of the average everyday duties of life. How are we to share this Good News with the rest of the world when we are so busy and are not able to go out and witness like we are asked to do? Other than living Christian lives and being a living witness through our actions in our daily life – we can use the web to share with others who Jesus is and what He has done for us.
We are in a technology-driven world. The World Wide Web is prevalent in most homes in our country.Personal web pages and blogs are all over the internet. There are blogs on any topic imaginable ranging from academics to website design. Anyone can have one and with the ready-made templates and designs available- they are quick to set up and most are free. Having a blog is an excellent way to share the Word of God with others. We can use it and other social media to tell people of our experiences of how knowing Jesus has made a difference in our lives. We can share scripture with others, or we can just blog to praise God and glorify His name.
Having a blog, website, Facebook page or other type of site is a way we can become modern-day disciples. I am not saying we should become lazy and not share our love for God with people in our everyday life. We should definitely do this, but we should also expand our circle online to those we do not normally come in contact. Someone from clear across the world can view our blog at any time of the day and be blessed by something that we share. How amazing it would be if we knew that what we had written that day on our blog changed someone’s life. It can happen, and it does happen. We can enlighten someone right now by writing a devotional or Christian poetry on our blog. While we are on this earth, we will not know how many people we have touched or introduced to Jesus. However, when we are in Heaven, we will know. We should strive to proclaim God’s love to others in any way we can. Typing a few words about Jesus through the web, whether it is via blog or another type of website may not seem like much, but it can make a world of difference to someone who doesn’t know Him. So let’s all become modern-day disciples, embrace the technology we have and make it our mission to bring others to Christ.
