THE USELESS UMBRELLA

Standing in the rain, with my
dull umbrella tightly twisted,
slightly using it for a cane.
Big fat sloppy drops
slapping the ground.
Beating on the roof-tops.
Swishing through trees,
Drip, drip from the eyelet leaves.
However, silently they smother my face
with damp kisses. Taking their course
by rivulets through variety of creases.
Music to my elephant size ears.
Refreshing, lively and cool.
Has it only been a little over sixty dedicated years?
I'm going on seventy-eight, old fool
that I am. What I am nearly dead.
Dry as a bone, flesh withered away.
I close my eyes..dream, lifting up my head.
Filling up the socket like bowls all the way.
Mouth open wide, feeling life giving water flowing
inside. I'm me again at seventeen, drinking
from the well that never ran dry.
I fall to my weakened knees in awe. Not in a
desert place, or wilderness..But in the rain.
Dropping my dull tightly twisted umbrella,
that I used slightly for a cane.
On a paved shining street.
Surrounded by showers of music so sweet.
In a city so bright.. with a great splendid
light. There wasn't one ounce of pain,
as I clutched my hand over my chest.
What did that kind gentleman helping me say?
"Stand up, my friend. Well done faithful one.
The time has come for you to rest."
Oh Holy Spirit, thank you for the fountain.
Thank you for the spring that I found on
your glorious mountain.
Restore and refresh our souls. Thank you for the
rain, poured out on us today that never
ceases to sustain. For your prescious blood,
that Jesus spilled on Calvery. His life for us he gave.
Offering to each and every one VICTORY
over sin, death, hell and the grave. A free gift.
I pray that his Spiritual rain fall continually in your lives.
Toss the umbrella, and let it rain.

HOLY, HOLY, HOLY is the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY

There's some great imagery and word choice here: sloppy drops slapping the ground, smother my face with damp kisses...Good stuff!

The title caught my eye. I liked this poem and saw a world of possiblities. You might explore "shaping" this poem, I think all of the essential qualities are there; that would also help with the rhythm.
