It’s because of the blood. I will not be persuaded because of the blood.
Bloodshed doesn’t happen without hurt or pain. Why would a loving god require hurt or pain?
Yet it’s everywhere.
At best, blood is messy. At worst, it’s the equivalent of gore. It’s the horror of horror movies - the stuff vampires crave.
Blood stains and it carries and transmits disease.
If there were a loving god, he would have everyone be at peace - no killing, no wars, no need for bloodshed.
Blood could stay in our bodies doing what its supposed to do - or maybe we wouldn’t even need it. A loving god could have made our bodies to function on water. If he made our skin impervious to damage, nothing would leak out, so we wouldn’t need plasma proteins or platelets to stop the ‘bleed’.
If we had no exposure to germs - no breathing, no eating, no intimacy with others - we’d have no need of white blood cells to fight infection or make antibodies.
Or maybe he would have placed us in a germ-free world. A sterile world.
Without breathing or eating we wouldn’t need red blood cells to carry oxygen or plasma to carry nutrients. Our body temperature could be regulated by some other means.
Then we’d have no need of circulation, no need of a beating heart.
No heart beat. No beat of life. No touch. No warmth of our own.
Something like a rock.
That’s not exactly right.
A loving god would probably give us a heartbeat. And, the warmth of a living body is very pleasant, so he might cause a warm fluid to be pumped throughout our system by that beating heart.
The soft touch of another person is very enjoyable and does add a lot to the quality of life, so impervious skin might not be the choice of a loving god. He would want us to have skin that could mend itself. Plasma proteins and platelets wouldn’t be a bad idea.
Enjoying good food is one of life’s greatest pleasures. A loving god would bless us with this ability. Eating is central to growing and regeneration and red blood cells and plasma are excellent vehicles for carrying nutrients throughout the body.
Blood is pretty amazing - the essence of life. ( I am fearfully and wonderfully made.)
A loving god would give us blood to enjoy life to the fullest.
A loving god would not have to shed his blood for us.
But He did.
(I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly.)
It’s because of the blood.
I am persuaded because of the blood.
