FOR UNTO US
According to the book of Matthew, Mary, a young woman, became impregnated by the Holy Spirit. Unfortunately she was already engaged to Joseph. He decided to back out of the marriage until God gave him a dream encouraging him to hang in there. He was advised to name the child, Jesus. The expectation was that He would save people from sin.
Three, Wise men saw a brilliant, beckoning star high in the sky, and followed it to discover the child born as King of the Jews! Their expectation of seeing him became reality. They presented him with gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Mary and Joseph watched as they worshipped the child. The three men weren’t too busy to check out the heavenly, birth announcement. Hopefully we aren’t too busy to accept the invitation to know Jesus as our Savior. As we surrender to his Lordship, we bring him much more than gold, frankincense, and myrrh – we bring him our very lives!
Shepherds were out in the field doing their usual jobs when an angel appeared! But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. (Luke 2:10, 11 NAS) There was a spectacular display of many angels in the piercing, dark sky praising and worshipping the new, born King! Imagine their shock at seeing the angel video displayed across the heavens! The shepherds wasted no time finding the King of the Jews. Do we waste time doing our own thing or are we sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit, our Great Expectation?
