For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.

There are many great and historic stories of people who had expectations of greatness which could only be obtained by their investment in others.

When Isabella the Queen of Spain underwrote Columbus exploratory journey, she had dreams of great wealth returning to her country. Her expected wealth of gold was not realized; instead she was instrumental in discovering the New World for which we are all grateful.

When the single mother of a young man bought him a dictionary and told him to study it every day she had great expectation for him, but little did she realize that this would change his life to the extent that it did. He began to excel at school, went on to college and today is a world renowned neurosurgeon.

When The Father Elohim, the Creator created Adam and Eve He had plans for them to succeed. They were to take dominion, multiply and fill the earth. His pre-determined plan then and now was for His offspring to live a good life. [Ephesians 2:10].

God was not disappointed in His Only Begotten Son Jesus Christ because He completed his earthly mission. He ‘did shrink from the horrors of separation from the bright presence of His Father….and ‘although He was a Son, He learned obedience through what he suffered’. [Hebrews 5:7-9].

In Christ’s determination to bring many sons to glory he suffered untold horrors at the hands of his torturers. As a result there was a glorious Resurrection and His defeat of death. We are no longer under bondage to the law. We have His abundant grace.

We are God’s great expectations; his children bought out of bondage wearing crowns. We are a holy nation, a glorious church, and the Body and Bride of Christ. Our destiny is to overcome; to overcome an enemy who is a serpent turned dragon. [Rev 1:6].

I am so grateful to my Father God and to Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. I am joyful that I was created with great expectations for a successful life. [Jeremiah 29:11].

He planned for me to be loved, to prosper, to have His Holy Spirit, to worship Him, to be fruitful, to live in holiness, to be one with Jesus Christ, and to be an ‘Overcomer’.

It will be accomplished.

This is a nice little sermon with a good message.

You had quite a few words left that you could have expanded some of your examples.

I liked the message that we are God's great expectations I've had self-esteem issues and it's nice to be reminded that God expects and I am capable of wonderful things.

This is a nice devotional and I liked how you led into the ultimate story of expectations - those of Christ and then, of course, ours as a result.

Who was the neurosurgeon you referenced? Maybe I missed it, but your other examples included specific names and that little story left me puzzled a little bit because I wanted to know who it was!

One thing I like to do - but it isn't strictly necessary - is to put emphasis on my verses by italicizing them, particularly when they are the first line of my devotional. It might be something you want to consider in the future.

Great job - I look forward to reading more of your work!
