“Help me!” I cried out to somebody, anybody that might hear my voice. I was in a ditch by a housing development. I had been thrown there by the man that had beaten and raped me. He had then pushed me out of a moving car into the ditch. I felt like my leg was broken. I couldn’t move it. I couldn’t take a deep breath. He must have cracked my ribs with his fists. I could not move very well and definitely not walk.

“Help, Please Help!” I screamed as loud as I could. Surely someone in the houses near me would hear me cry out. I was mad, terribly mad, so I could scream really loud. I felt like I was going into shock, I was shivering but it was warm.

I heard a door open. “Help! Please Help me, I've been hurt. Please call the police. Can you hear me?”

“Yes, I hear you,” the very welcome voice said. “Marge, call police. You out there, keep talking so I can find you.”

“Here, I am here.” I kept repeating the same sentence until the man got to me.

“I am here.” He said. “What's your name Miss?”

“Helen, Helen Blake.” My teeth were chattering so fast it was hard to speak.

“My name is John, wife is calling police. Please don't try to move until they get here. Marge, bring a blanket, please.” He was kneeling beside me holding my hand, the only part he dared touch. “Dear Holy Father, Surround Helen with angels to protect her from further harm. Place your healing arms around her dear Father. Give her the peace that passes all understanding. In Jesus name we pray.”

As he prayed, I felt myself relaxing some. Marge got there with the blanket, covering me gently. I heard the sirens of the police car and I hoped an ambulance. “I am in need of prayer, John.” I whispered. “I am so mad, I hate him for this. As children of God, we are not supposed to hate. Please pray that I will be able to forgive him.”

“I will.” John said as he moved out of the way for the paramedics. “What hospital with you be going to.”

“Hillcrest. If they will take me there.”

The paramedics asked me questions which I answered to the best of my ability.

“Who did this to you?” This came from my right. I tried to turn so I could see who was talking, but it was impossible.

“Please come where I can see you.” I entreated. I was having enough trouble coping with all that had happened. I wanted to see who I was talking to. The blue form of the policeman came into my view.

“I'm sorry, is this better? Sgt. Brown here. Who did this?”

“I don't know. I was shopping in Pineview Mall. I had finished, was carrying my purchases to the east door. I had parked there. I was just outside the door when he grabbed me. He put a cloth over my mouth. My hands and feet were tied and there was a gag in my mouth when I awoke. He stopped the car and started beating me and raping me.”

“Can you give us any description of him or the car?” Sgt. Brown asked.

“Sarge, can these questions wait until we get her to the hospital?” The paramedic asked. “ We need to go.”

“Yes, Do everything you can to protect the forensic evidence. This kind of call makes me so mad and sick. How could someone be so devoid of feelings for their fellow humans. I wish I could arrest everyone of them before they had a chance to hurt someone!” Sgt Brown was furious. “You are taking her to Hillcrest, right?”

“Yes. Dr. Young is on call tonight. He is good with bone injuries.” The paramedic told Sgt Brown as he loaded me into the ambulance.

The bouncing of the gurney going in, jarred my memory. “Sarge, his car was a green Pontiac firebird! I think a 1998-99.Get him please!”

Three painful days later, Sgt Blake appeared in my room.

“Ms. Blake, We have your rapist in custody. You were right about the car.” Sgt Brown smiled as he delivered the news.

That's when I noticed he was very handsome. Single? Maybe?

You did a great job describing the anger. The prayer was beautiful. You need to watch the punctuation and capitalization. I did question if she would really be interested in the officer right after being raped, but then everyone handles things differently. You did a good job showing me a different POV.
