In Psalm 34:8 (NIV), we are told to “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.” In order to truly see the goodness of the Lord, we must view through spiritual eyes, a sight that goes beyond our physical senses and recognizes His amazing goodness in spite of our weaknesses, failures and rebellion. With that sight it is possible to study the Word, which in turn grows my faith and trust in the Lord, softens my heart, sharpens my mind and strengthens my spirit. As I grow in my faith, the eyes of my soul bring me to the realization that I am nothing without God; my strength is found in Him alone. Only God can train me to see things through the eyes of my heart so that I glorify His name, live according to His will and always remain in His grace and love. May I see things in this world through the lens of God’s amazing love and extend that same love to everyone, especially those in need of a comforting touch or a gentle hug. Sight is an amazing gift from God, one to be appreciated and exercised in honor and praise of Him alone.
