Who’s Report?
Who’s report will you believe?
To what voice do you lend your ear?
Who’s message will you receive?
Are you listening loud and clear?
Depicting one from the other
Is a feat not easily learned.
The familiar voice of ones mother--
for most so readily discerned.
Deceit, ever sweet, just a whisper
So gently tickled my lobes,
Enraptured I could not resist her--
Enticing, glamorous, robes.
These voices to all daily call
Not all will lighten our path,
I choose to refuse, Satan’s pall--
his loathsome, audible laugh.
We constantly cry out to God,
Can you hear? I’m calling now?
Guide my steps on this road I trod.
Show me—direct me—somehow?
Yes, life is a series of choices
The best ones, not always made.
Beware when yielding to voices
The reaper--he shall be paid.
There is one voice gently calling
Though still small, its words are strong.
It will catch you when you’re falling
Its direction never wrong.
Who’s report will you believe?
To whom do you lend your ear?
The report of truth I shall receive--
When the voice, of the Lord, I hear.
