T’was midnight or about;
When I heard a trumpet shout.
The sky was black as tar;
No shining moon or twinkling star.

Suddenly a brilliant light;
Where angels lit up the night,
Then I saw The Son of God;
In his hands a shepherd’s s rod.

His garment was white as snow;
Arms opened to those below.
His hair was a milky white;
And copper eyes glowed with might.

Then He spoke “It is now time.”
I saw people begin the climb.
Up went many friends so dear;
I remained; it was now so clear.

They tried to tell me this before;
Hmph I said and always grew sore.
“I don’t need to meet in the air;
Leave me alone; I do not care!”

Oh why didn’t I listen?
Now I won’t be with them.
I heard but did not care;
The good news they tried to share.

The Son of God I did deny;
Alone, I peer into the sky
Oh why did I not listen?
I am lost without Him.

This is quite intense and well written. Good job with the flow of the poem.

Great thought provoking poem for the unbelieving and an inspiring message to those of us who will be making that climb! I also thought this read well. Good Job!

A very moving poem. Made me sad for the one "left behind". Some really nice word use/imagery. Especially liked "No shining moon or twinkling star".
