I rush through Bible-reading at the end of the day

All of life’s obstacles seemed to get in the way

I wanted to study, I wanted to pray . . .

But now the sun’s setting and fading away

What happened, Lord, that I didn’t take the time?

Forgive me for these stupid excuses of mine.

Phew! I’m so glad that You’re patient with me.

I really don’t deserve it, but You give me the key

To start tomorrow over and spend more time with Thee.

You tell me I’m forgiven, but I know grace is no reason

To live my life like sin is in season.

Your grace is given freely that I
might live

My life for You, it’s the sacrifice I give.

Phew! I’m so grateful that you give me second chances

To bask in Your presence as Your love enhances.

Love – I feel it shine through my soul

Cleaning me, making me purer than gold.

How good it feels to be with You again!

Phew! I pray that this moment won’t end!

I liked the rhyme, because poetry speaks to me like no other words. So sad that all of us are plagued with this malady at times. How can God be so patient with us? No one ever loved as Jesus!

You reveal the human heart and struggle here very well. Most sincere Christians have this same problem and would be encouraged to read this piece.

Spending more time with the Lord on a one on one is something, most of us need more of. Well put. I was touched by your sentence with: like sin is in season, pretty descriptive of our world right now.

Nicely written and a beautiful reminder of grace! I need to do some soul-searching after reading your poem.
