How to Grow an Anger Plant: A Gardener’s review
Although not available in stores, the seeds of anger can be obtained in many different ways. Some have obtained these seeds from their unfair boss, obnoxious co-workers or a spiteful ex-spouse. Job layoffs and personal sickness are two other common sources. Even your friends and loved ones can be suppliers when they slight you (intentionally or not.)
It really doesn’t matter what type of soil in which you sow the seeds. They seem to do equally well with either rich or poor dirt. Some even claim that the rockier the soil, the more the seeds thrive. As they germinate, they produce the roots of bitterness, which are quite hardy and can survive almost anything.
I recommend that you keep these seedlings in a dark place, perhaps a closet, for a variety of reasons. Even though the plants are quite hardy, one must admit they are rather ugly. Your friends may think they detract from the appearance of your home, instead of improving it. The plants’ protruding thorns may also cause pain to anyone who accidentally stumbles into them. Perhaps most importantly, exposing these plants to the sunlight of God’s love causes them to yellow and become sickly.
You must be sure to fertilize and water the plants often; in fact, you really can’t fertilize them too much. The proper mix of daily rumination of past hurts and wrongs and musings on the inequities of life will do wonders for the plants’ growth and development.
Once mature, the plants produce quite a variety of foliage, although it may not always be known what type they will yield when you first sow the seeds. In addition to Bitterness, some of the other hybrid varieties are Hostility, Cynicism, and Depression.
Caution: The plants do produce several toxins of which you must be aware. One is an almost invisible haze that keeps you from “seeing” God’s blessings in your life. There is also an odor, almost undetectable, that generally kills any sense of thanksgiving, joy or gladness in your heart.
As a final warning, once these plants have grown to maturity, they are almost impossible to kill. The only certain way to destroy them is to saturate them with the priceless herbicide of Forgiveness.
“See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.” (Hebrews 12:15 NIV)
“In your anger do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry.” (Ephesians 4:26 NIV)
