“Wise old Mister Owl
Perched lazily in a tree,
Open up those heavy eyelids,
Come have a talk with me!”

“Why do you sleep in daytime,
And rustle around in night?
Why is it creatures which see you
Go scurrying out of your sight?”

“Why do you fly and make noise,
When I am sleeping at night?
You need to control your habits,
Before we have a huge fight!”

“If you would work in daytime,
Sleep at night, like all the rest;
You’d have happy friends and neighbors;
Now, don’t you think that is best?”

An eye slowly opened up,
He looked at me in disdain!
“And, why do you bother me,
Then accuse me of the same?”

“Someone must look after things
While you choose to sleep at night.
The hours that you humans keep-
To me, is simply a fright!”

“Well, Mr. Wise Old sleepy Owl
I shouldn’t condemn what you do!
You shouldn’t have to defend
The nature that God gave you!”

“Go ahead and catch your rodents,
These seem worse, and bother me.
I guess I’ll have to let you sleep
Until you fly out of your tree!”

I liked your fun poem. If I look at the forums you weren't the only one who read "Ow!" as "Owl". maybe you can use it as a theme for Oops!

Cute poem--I'd love to see it illustrated!

I've started a class in the FaithWriters forums for Beginner and Intermediate writers. I'd love to see you there--look for "Jan's Writing Basics".

Keep writing--you have a knack for light verse.

I liked how it was written, so light and easy to follow.
