In the South Indian language Tamil there is a proverb (jaundice eyes see everything yellow) which means the eyes of a person who has jaundice sees everything in yellow color. Even if he looks at pure white things he will see them only as yellow. It is not the mistake of his eyes or vision; but it is the disease in him that results in yellow vision.

Yellow Vision of the Mind

This is quite fitting to many of our mental visions also. Most of the time we develop a prejudiced view in our mind about certain things before we judge them. That makes us misunderstand persons and situations and pass wrong judgments. The yellow vision of our mind jumps before all to take a rash decision and treat others harshly wounding their hearts. Our prejudice or pre-occupied ideas that exists already n our minds makes us blind in seeing things in reality. It is, of course, a defect or a jaundice disease of our mind that hurries to give a wrong picture.

Yellow in Bible

Though the color yellow does not appear frequently in scripture, it refers to God’s glory and brightness in many places. It also refers to God’s fire (Hebrew 12:29) or judgment (Genesis 19:24). In any places yellow is also used to describe the color of gold (Psalm 68:13).

Apart from these connections, it is used to describe the color of hair in leprosy, a cursed disease of those times. It says that the priest should examine the patient and if the hair on the skin is thin and yellow it is to decide that the person is unclean (Leviticus 13:30-36) Yellow helps to distinguish cleanliness.

The Bright Yellow can Illumine our Hearts

Yellow is the bright color which gives attraction to environment. Jesus said “I am the Light of the world; he on who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have light and life.”(John 8: 12) Only the divine light of Jesus can remove our blindness and make us see things in heir real perspective. The real light Jesus can only help us to see others as God’s image and likeness. In order to receive it we have to be healed from our spiritual blindness.

Bright Color Yellow is Good for Our Health

Researches say that bright colors can boost our mood instantly, particularly the color yellow. This sunny hue represents brightness, happiness, joy and hope. When we seek out and consume yellow-colored foods, we can nourish our body, mind and soul with many of Mother Nature’s health benefits. Yellow fruits and vegetables are enriched with carotenoids and bioflavonoids, which are water soluble plant pigments that function as antioxidants and also have an abundance of vitamin C which are very essential for our heath. Studies suggest that these bountiful nutrients help our heart, vision, digestion and immune system.

Yellow Vision and the Bright Vision of Christ

The yellow vision I have mentioned above is a physical defect of the eyes connected with some defect in he hormone system and the bile flow. It can be cured with medicine. But what about the yellow vision of our mind or spirituality? Only Jesus Christ who is the Light of the World can cure it. He has promised that f we follow him we will not walk in darkness or blindness. If we follow him we will not judge others rashly. If we follow him we will not dare to “look at the speck in our brother’s eye, not seeing the plank in our own eye.”(Matthew 7: 3)

So let us pray to God that He may heal us from our yellow vision or spiritual blindness and help us to live faithfully a witnessing life.

A nice devotional! Very educational too, as I knew nothing of yellow vision. Your grammar skills shine, so keep writing! Blessings.

When I get my vision checked, a florescent dye is put into the eyes to view the fit of my contact lens. For several minutes, my entire vision field is yellow! Thank God it is not a "Jaundiced view" of the world as you so vividly described.
