The royal robes that Kings would wear,
Were those of purple colors grand.
Then all would bow with royal care,
To help increase their own life span.
The temple that Solomon built,
Had purple curtains hung in style.
Mordecai was clothed in purple,
Maybe from the Elisha isle.
Rich men also liked this color,
They thought it made them classy dudes.
But through it all they fooled themselves,
In truth most were self righteous prudes.
Then there was the woman Lydia,
She sold this color for her trade.
Her heart was open to the Savior,
And listened to the path Paul made.
In the book of Revelation,
A woman dressed, purple array.
A golden cup of immorality,
Gives insight of a future day.
The tabernacle of ancient times,
Curtains of linen it possessed.
With workmanship above all others,
Would let it wear its finest dress.
For as we look through Bible times,
We see that purple had its place.
Old Testament was royalty,
New Testament a touch of grace.
For Jesus wore a purple robe,
Put on Him by some evil men.
They did not know of whom they mocked,
Or that new life would soon begin.
