The Brightest Star in the Sky

As Graziela takes her daily walk at a lake near her home, she talks to God. On this particular day, she asks God for her to be healed, to feel safe again in an unsafe world, to bring her true love in a spouse who truly loves and cares for her and her for him, and Godly friendships with others who are loving, caring, and compassionate. She would like her spouse and some close friendships to have an Italian background like her, a clear vision for her vocation and to work with people who are caring and respectful of her. She also prays for peace in the world, for people to be more loving, understanding, and caring towards one another.

Graziela admires the birds, the green grass, the many beautfiul green trees. She loves a few of the ones she sees that have little red bunches of round berry like fruit look to it on its branches. It reminds her of her Italian culture which she wishes things would be different. She knows she is travelling a healing journey and is not meant to be too close with them at this time, but, oh how she wishes things were not as she has seen. She also stops and looks at the green willow trees. They symbolize to her the necessary suffering of pain she must go through to get to the light. On this day, she placed her hands on a small bunch of willow tree leaves and lifted them up towards the bright sun as a prayer for her healing and the healing of the world.

Graziela feels a breeze blowing as she walks past the green trees. She breathes it in and thanks God. He tells her He is with her and that more will be revealed to her in time. She hears Him say that she will be healed, that good people will be coming into her life as well as a spouse who loves her, understands her, does not find her very difficult, and will treat her well. She also hears Him say that her vocation is already in motion through her writing and more will be revealed as time goes on. He asks her to simply be and know He is there with her.

It is now early evening, she goes to start her car, but, strangely it would not make a sound. She looks around and there are no cars left in the parking lot. She then looks directly upward into the sky and sees the most brightest star above her. She stares at it for a few seconds and sees it shooting little mini stars around it and then stops and starts again. She calls for roadside emergency assistance and waits in her car. She asks God is this star of You or is it technology? It is of Me He tells her. I am here with you.

She received wonderful caring service from the person that came for roadside emergency service and he said there seemed to be a car alarm glitch, fixed it, and, her car started. As she was getting ready to leave, she looked up in the sky and saw the bright star still there. She stared at it for a few seconds and watched it release little stars. She thanked God and the star for being there for her. She pulled out of the parking lot and as she was driving she saw the bright star follow her home right to her doorstep as it stood still as she opened the door, got in her house and looked straight up ahead as it remained still and shooting out some little stars. She smiled at it and smiled to the sky and thanked God for showing her He is real, present with her, and to trust in Him. She shut the door. Minutes later, she reopened the door and it was still there. She smiled, felt gratitude, happiness, and more trust in God that though the path does not seem very clear and difficult right now, He has not abandoned her.

Good story.

Try to do more showing instead of telling. Let us get into the main character's head. Let her actually say the words she's saying, rather than just telling us what she's saying or thinking.

I liked the star following her around. :) Good job.

Clever way of showing that God is always with us through something of his creation and lovely to gaze upon. Also, your piece reminds us to spend time with God in quiet and simple ways. Very healing. Good job.
