One of my favorite colors is black. Why do I like black? Well if truth be known, I am overweight. When I wear black it has a tendency to make me look slimmer. It prevents people from noticing all my flaws. We all like to hide those things that are not quite right about us. Black helps us cover up those things that are not quite right.
I also equate black with darkness. When I was a child I was afraid of the dark. I suppose it was because I could not see what the darkness was hiding.
My brother, who loved to aggravate me, would often turn out the light after we had entered a room. I would begin to scream and cry. He thought it was funny but I did not. My fear of what was hidden in the darkness was terrifying.
The Bible equates darkness with evil. The words read; "men love darkness rather than light because their deeds are evil." The reason for this is that the darkness covers up their evil deeds. They do not like to be exposed to the light because they donít want the truth to be revealed.
Our lives were black with sin. Darkness filled every corner and crevice. The light of Jesus came one day and revealed the flaws that filled our lives. He removed that darkness. Not only did he remove that darkness but he removed the flaws also. We no longer have to hide because we are made new. Our darkness is turned into light.
I no longer fear the dark because Jesusí light fills my soul, but I have to admit I still like to wear black. Those physical flaws that I mentioned in the beginning, well they are still there. Praise to the Lord Jesus those spiritual flaws are gone.

I like how you compared wearing black to cover flaws to darkness hiding sin. Jesus can uncover the sin and take the darkness away.

Ahh the little or not so little black dress. Good points.

Witty and pleasant to read.
