Two more sons of Adam had been translated into the Kingdom of Light and most galling of all; one of them escaped only moments before his death.
Minor demons skulked away in terror, crouching into black holes, hissing at each other as they morphed into pathetic shapes. Even the sulphurous fire in Magot’s eyes was too much light for then just now. And the spirit of fear crouched lowest of all. He was responsible. It had been his assignment.
What happened Fear?’ Magot’s voice dripped with malice.
The spirit crawled slowly towards the Chieftain’s feet.
‘The nurse S-Scarlett found …’ he knew better than to speak the Son of God’s Messianic name. ‘N-not even our esteemed Lord of the Underworld could stop her from doing that Master’.
Thwack! He received a brutal kick.
‘She reads the bible; prays. I can’t control her’. He whimpered. ‘For so long I had her totally mine.’
‘Not totally you foul wimp. Why didn’t you command Timidity’s help or keep her away from Rawling’s death bed?’
‘I did. I did. Here look at my diary.’
Fear produced a scroll of fingernail scratched entries.
Maggot hurled it at the abyss. ‘Tell me yourself’.
‘S-Scarlett prays too much.
One day she received her assignment from H-Him’, the spirit recoiled at the thought, ‘but I couldn’t understand a word of it except for the patient Rawling’s name. The only thing I could do Master was keep them apart. I blackened the thoughts of the one Scarlett calls dragon lady Charge Nurse to roster Scarlett onto the opposite end of the ward.
It's very hard work there.
By midmorning she had forgotten her assignment. Whatever it was.’
He raised nail bitten hands in appeal. ‘But then I heard “Answer that call bell Scarlett, Mr Rawling’s nurse is at tea.”
That was unfair and I was in great danger of losing everything. My only hope was that the light within Scarlett was a little faded; from work or maybe forgetfulness. I decided to oppress her.’
Fear straightened a little, the better to re-enact his story and for a moment he considered lying. Since created spirits were not omnipresent Magot would not have seen what happened. But he decided no. Timidity could not be trusted.
He continued his monologue.
“Water please” Rawling was close to death.
I had Timidity crowd over Scarlett and I saw her wince. She lifted the glass to his lips, lowered his head and soothed his whiskery cheek.
“Why haven’t they shaved you?” she whispered, though I think she was more upset with herself than another.
Nothing else happened. She walked out.
Unfortunately, she wept that night and confessed her weakness. “Please don’t let him die until I get back to work in two days Jesus”.
I stood by powerless.
The morning Scarlett reported for duty again, I followed her and was horrified to hear,
“ Scarlett, Mr. Rawling is a little stronger; shower him but make it quick, he can’t stand for long.”
I hurled fear everywhere, but Scarlett was the image of her Master; impervious.
And then’, Fear almost held Magot’s gaze, hatred colouring them black, ‘her assignment was revealed.
“Mr Rawling I’ve been speaking to Jesus about you. About whether or not you are going to heaven.”
Rawling stared at her then said, “What did He say Nurse?”
Such humility alarmed me Master, but Scarlett’s face radiated j-joy.
“He said that if you confessed Him as Lord and believed in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you would be saved.”’ (Romans 10:9)
The demon howled at the memory and wrung his bony hands. ‘Then the sick man asked her,
“Are you sure He didn’t say my soul is too black; too broken?”
Scarlet smiled and shook her head. She let him think his own thoughts as she combed his hair and buttoned his pyjama top.
“Nurse”, Mr Rawling gasped when at last he fell back into bed “Would you write down what Jesus said?”
Fear crouched low ‘He died that night Master. I blocked my ears but I still heard him speaking the saving scripture. It’s not my fault. We’re powerless you know, if a man wants to pray scripture’.
Maggot screamed and commanded binding spirits to drag Fear away for torture. He hated truth.

the things Satan cannot prevail against. You have woven a good story.Keep them coming!
Let me know privately if you want me to discuss the theology aspect further.
There were a few places that I thought could be polished up for punctuation, formatting, and the like (capitalization of 'Bible', for example), but some of those may be Brit/US differences.
Excellent story-telling.
