My Red Kitchen Wall

My kitchen wall is red...

The room is inviting and warm...

It's where I sit, rest my head and pray...

In the midst of all life's storms.

I can watch the trees sway as I pray,

As I look out the window, the wind blows...

I bring others souls to sit at Your feet...

If only You they could know...

I know that You died just for me

To take my sins away....

I know Lord that You are with me

Every hour of every day.

But sometimes Lord, life is so hard,

There are no words to say,

No words to describe the pain inside...

Inside of others I see each day.

I look into eyes that are afraid,

They know not what their future will bring...

They are young, vibrant and full of life,

Their broken hearts will not let them sing.

Some are older, broken, tired and bent...

They dedicated their whole life to you.

They are sad as they wonder where the time went.

What is left? Can they still serve You?

Help me to show them all about You,

I give them all to You as I pray.

Use my hands that are folded tightly in prayer,

To serve them for You each day.

Hold them so close, keep them safe,

Let them know Your loving heart beat...

Help them to know You are always there...

They are always safe sitting at Your feet.

Compassionate thoughts. Standing in the gap for others. A good reminder for us all to pray. Thank you!

Lovely image in the first stanza; I'd like to have seen you return to it at the end, to strenghten your tie-in to the topic.

There's a poetry "class" (more like a guided thread) currently running in the Writing Forum on the message boards, for poets of all abilities and interests. We'd love your input--it's all friendly and low pressure.

Love the rich meaning in this poem.
