Iíve never been calmed
By the waters of the Red sea.
Never have risen to the colossal heights
Of the statue of liberty,
Nor walked under Napoleonís arch
Or up the Eiffel tower,
Or touched and conquered mount Kilimanjaro
In itís silent, awesome power.
Never seen the graceful archs
Of the opera house in Sydney, Australia,
Nor ridden that ancient, monstrous stone dragon
Called the ancient, great wall of China.
Never questioned the mysterious sphinx
Who looks as though he just might wink.
Never heard Victoria falls in thunderous splendour
Or walked the frozen deserts of Alaskan texture.
To all these places, Iíve never been
Only in my mindís eye of these I dream.
Even though these sights, Iíd love to see
Iíve never had the opportunity.
But I tell you what Iíve seen
In the few places Iíve been;
Never knew there were so many shades of grey,
Till I beheld the sky on a stormy day.
Saw the magnificent palm trees
Waving their leaves as I pass,
My feet springing
On a verdant carpet of grass.
Iíve seen the endless limits of the Atlantic ocean
Wether raging or at peace, always in motion.
Iíve seen a flower struggle through a crack in cement,
A man gaze in wonder at a sky painted many shades of red.
Iíve seen stars twinkle before the break of dawn.
Iíve smelt the soil, earth and water just before a thunder storm.
Iíve seen a smile on the face of a child weary and wet,
Seen an African woman, noble and proud in silhouette.
Iíve seen a pirouetting gale!
Seen clouds descend into a vale!
Upon these and much more Iíve gazed,
Seen things in places that have left me amazed.
So the next time you go sightseeing,
Donít forget to also look for the sights unseen!
