With the first whisper of crickets singing their song on cool summer nights, I breathe a sigh of contentment. Fall is on its way and I am in heaven. Sitting on my back porch, I inhale deeply and savor the scent of autumn. There is nothing more comfortable than the emotions evoked by fall. I close my eyes and imagine for a moment brilliant hues of orange, yellow, and deep burgundy which will soon paint the landscape. In my mind, I can already feel the crispness of the air, taste the softness of homemade pumpkin pie, and feel the crunch of leaves as I walk through my driveway. Fall is a welcome friend, a loved one I haven’t seen for months, a memory of holidays past, and a hint of happy days ahead. Closing my eyes, I am reminded of the One who created all of this for my enjoyment and I feel so overwhelmingly thankful.
