The searing hot westerly winds of summer have given way to the softer, cooler breezes of autumn. Swimmers, t-shirts and shorts have been or are being packed away for next year’s holiday season. Now jeans warm shirts and jumpers take pride of place in the cupboards and drawers in the bedrooms across our great state of New South Wales, well at least on the eastern shore.
Autumn, for me is a time of reflection, as it is, for us the celebration of Easter.
A time I ponder the Agape love of our Father in Heaven, who for His own unfathomable reasons, loved us so deeply that He was prepared to allow His only Begotten Son to die the cruelest death imaginable upon a wooden cross outside the gates of His own Holy City.
As a father, I cannot imagine how He could have done this particularly since, with one word, He could have ended His Son’s suffering.
My boys, and my daughter, are my life and I would give my life to protect them from anyone or anything and would not contemplate for one instant sacrificing them for the good or wellbeing of anything.
In this great land down under spring has begun but for all you who live in the northern hemisphere your autumn is beginning.
As we see the new life beginning and are busy planting our veggie gardens; you are preparing for the harsher, colder times of winter.
So as you see the leaves of the trees in your neighborhood die, please take time to reflect and meditate upon the awesome love of the Father who also watched His Son die upon that that tree on a hill in Israel.
And remember.
He did it for you and me.
John 3:16- For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
