Cashing in on the femininity of the woman, the subtle serpent inches in to the bond and treacherously lacerates it to the point of detachment. This is when the chief occupant of the garden is loitering. The great I AM’s voice had warned, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat: but of the tree of knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for the day that you eat of it you shall die,” (NKJV)
The worst is done! There exists the wide gap that will demand a great atonement before it is filled. The bond is badly mutilated and the man loses the splendour of an adorable garden; the chance to spend his leisure at the arms of the four riverheads of Dishon, Gihon, Hiddekel and Euphrates; the comfort of the ambience of serenity and the tenderly well-groomed garden where living creatures, beasts and birds of the air keep him company.
Looming ahead dangerously is a future that wanes, the disillusionment and exceeding sorrow that he must now toil and labour before eating. His woman must undergo the throes of parturition, and accursed is the ground for their sake. Who will repair the badly torn relationship? Who will make the broken pitcher whole again? It is the birth in Bethlehem. It is the swaddling-clothed child that lies in the manger who shall work the wonder of redemption, whose infancy cherishes the reconciliation process. For unto humanity a saviour is born who shall be called the Messiah.
