There’s nothing more precious, amazing, stupendous, or wonderful than the birth of a child. Just to think of carrying a growing human being inside of one’s self. There is nothing more special than seeing a young couple, completely in love, who have just discovered that they are going to be parents for the first time!
Everything from that point on in their lives becomes all about the new little miracle on the way. Every action, every moment, every dollar spent, everything they do is motivated by the thought of the new arrival on the way. They make all the necessary arrangements for showers, baby needs, and baby’s room. They spend hours reading child care books, taking child rearing classes, and trying to choose the perfect name for this little one.
They then go their first ultrasound and get to view the first pictures of their baby. Their love, joy, excitement, and wonder is contagious. The whole extended family and all their friends become so excited about what the future holds in store for this baby.
Then when the BIG day FINALLY arrives and after long hours of waiting, pain, and lots of work the new little wonder arrives in this world.
From that moment on there is no end to the little things done just for baby. Pictures are a must!!! There must always be plenty of food, diapers, new clothes, strollers, car seats, and all other miscellaneous baby items.
First time parents are in an endless wonder about their new child! They cannot get their mind off their miracle; they cannot talk about much of anything else but their new little one! All they think, talk, dream, and hope for is their new child.
Just as parents never seem to lose the wonder of their new child, have you lost the wonder of your new birth?
There is nothing in this world more amazing or awesome than that the God of the universe would adopt this sinful creature into His family. He has grafted us into His family. He became our Father the moment we accepted Him as our Savior.
Do you remember how you felt the moment you trusted Christ. Do you remember how totally amazing and wonderful you felt? Do you remember how that no matter what your surroundings or circumstances the realization that God was your Savior and Heaven was your home was constantly on your mind?
Now that the years have gone by, I wonder have you lost the wonder of it all. Have you lost the wonder of how amazing it is that the Creator of all things would give His life so that you might gain heaven?
There is a story about a young gypsy boy, who never once attended school a day in his life, a very poor boy who got saved while listening to D.L. Moody. He then grew up and traveled Europe and America as an evangelist, it is reported that he was able to reach over 1 million souls for Christ in his ministry. He had such a joy, such a contagious happiness, something in his life that attracted others to him. In one meeting he was approached by a young news reporter and asked what it was that made his joy endless and his happiness contagious. He promptly replied, I have never lost the wonder that God would save a poor little gypsy boy. A young man by the name of Alfred B. Smith was standing near and heard this man’s reply, he then sat down and began to write the lyrics to the song “I Have Never Lost the Wonder of It All.”
We have done nothing to deserve this wonderful thing of salvation. There is nothing greater than having the Lord as your Savior.
I wonder have you lost the wonder?
If you have, get it back; fall back in love with your Savior!
