Wow it is SO bright! Can somebody dim the lights? I feel so different. Something has obviously happened but I can’t tell what!

I hear strange loud noises. There is a distinct difference between where I came from and where I am now. The good news is, I recognize Mommy and Daddy’s voice so I MUST be in the right place.

Mommy and Daddy are so attentive to me. They pick me up a lot so I don’t have an opportunity to cry as much as I’d like to. It’s funny though, whenever I do cry, I hear an echo.

Ever since I’ve been in this new place, lots of people have come to visit. They all make a bee line to see me. They take pictures and make strange noises like they are trying to sing. That frightens me sometimes and I cry. Every time I cry, I hear a cry. When Mommy burps me, I can hear another burp. Seems odd. But what seems even odder, I’m not bothered or afraid of the echo.

One day, as I was lying around just getting used to my new home, I decided to kick my legs around for a nice stretch. It felt really good. As I stretched, something very strange happened. My foot brushed up against something! My instinct was to start to cry but I hesitated. Actually whatever it was my foot touched was warm and pleasant!

I thought I’d try to kick again. There it was. Something warm and soft was touching my foot. I was not sure what it was but I liked it! It was not Mommy or Daddy. It was something much smaller, maybe my size.

I needed to find out what this was. As time went on, I was able to determine I was closest to the echo when I was lying down. So every nap time, I contorted and twisted until my feet touched the warm, soft thing. It appeared to anticipate my touch and even reach out for it! Whenever I managed to touch it, I giggled a bit. And I always heard a giggle too. First my cry, then my burp and now my giggle. They all had echoes. I was intrigued.

Had my parents bought some new type of baby monitor to make me believe I was not alone? That would explain the echo but it would not explain the warm soft thing! And baby monitor or not, I never felt alone.

I can’t wait to find out the secret of the warm soft thing. It would not be long before I could focus and then I’d be able to see for myself!

It did not take long for that to happen. I saw Mommy first, she was so pretty. Daddy looked scared, but handsome. One day, during my bubble bath, I decided to play with the bubbles. I tried to squeeze them between my toes. My toes were so cute. As I admired my toes, something odd happened.

Now, I had found my feet while stretching several months earlier and I knew I only had two of them. But as I let the bubbles float over my feet and toes, I saw another pair of toes doing the same thing. I started to giggle as they touched mine. I heard a giggle. This was the day I was going to finally get some answers.

I looked up at Mommy, who was smiling down at me. She winked and then turned her head and seemed to be smiling and winking in the opposite direction.

What is she doing? “Clearly, Mommy, I’m over here” I thought. Even I could see that!

I decided to follow her glance to see what she was smiling at! I giggled a bit as I thought this was some new game Mommy was playing. I slowly turned my head toward the direction she was looking…I heard another giggle…..just inside my range of sight….there it was …I saw the echo! Only it was not an echo at all. It was me! No, it couldn’t be me, I was me! It looked liked me…or what I thought I should look like! It was two of us! Me and him! Or me and her! I couldn’t tell. That explained the extra pair of toes in the bubbles!

That was no echo, that was my twin!
