Ascension
“We are to grow up in all aspects into Him”
~ Ephesians 4:15 (NAS)
We are sojourners in this foreign land called earth, God-delivered as babes and purposed to be transformed into the image of His son, Christ Jesus. To become a mature man. To reach “…the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.”
(Ephesians 4:13 NAS)To ascend to spiritual adulthood. And in doing so to accomplish God’s purposes on the earth. We are not merely called to salvation but to transformation.
One by one, in each and every heart submitted to Him, transformation works its purpose, His purpose. Thereby His kingdom will come to this foreign land called earth. It comes by His transforming power in our hearts. And thus spiritual ascension is accomplished within us.
“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Romans 12:2 NAS). A renewed mind is transforming and leads down the path to His perfect will. To renew is not merely to “add to” but to “exchange” or “replace”. Exchange old thoughts that condemn and paralyze. Make room for God’s truth. Replace that space with His thoughts. Let His word edify and encourage on the journey toward Christlikeness.
Trials are the training ground for Christlikeness. In every challenge lies the opportunity to develop the virtues of Christ and thus be transformed. Embrace difficulties for they draw us to Christ and He draws us to change. Look inward and do not focus on outward things or circumstances or the opportunity for change will be lost.Choose transformation. Choose Christlikeness. For life then becomes a continual evolution toward spiritual adulthood, a beckoning path leading to His holy hill.
“Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord?
And who may stand in His holy place?
He who has clean hands and a pure heart.”
~Psalms 23:3-4
Lord, transform me. I want to possess clean hands and a pure heart. Renew my mind to Your truth. Help me to choose Christlikeness every time I am challenged. I long to ascend to Your holy hill!
