Two Letters

Dear God,

My heart is full of sin and shame. It is proud. It is arrogant. Itís overwhelmingly self-occupied. Thereís nothing like it in the world. The heart is full of deceit, indeed. Itís desperately wicked! And itís my heart that the Scripture is talking about.

Have mercy on me, O God, for my heart is so full of pride. Of self-righteousness. Of manipulative schemes and self-serving strategies.

Cleanse me from every trace of uncleanness. Of impure intentions. Of self-exalting goals and ignoble purposes.

Wash me from all of my self-glorious deeds and self-gratifying acts. These are but an outflow of a heart whose center is not You, Oh, Holy One.

My heart schemes. Itís self-seeking. It selfishly calculates. Thoroughly purify me, Oh Merciful God!

Today, I will return to You and I will rend my heart. In Your mercy, I will hope. In Your grace, I will trust. And in Your unfailing kindness and love, I will cling.
From your wayward child

Dearly beloved child of Mine,

You have rended your heart and not your garments. You have returned to Me. My heart leaps with joy in your return. You have turned away from whatís hurting and destructive for you. My heart sings with gladness.

As youíve emptied your heart from your sin and shame, I can now fill it to the brim with My peace, joy and love.

Itís only when your heart is empty can My Spirit fill you.

Itís only when it counts everything as loss can My Son be exalted in you.

Itís only when you lose your life in Me can you keep it for the joy everlasting.

My dearly beloved child, your joy will know no bounds and your praise will be inexpressible when I, the Holy One, am the Only One in your heart.
With My unfailing kindness and love,
God

Congratulations on your first place win. I loved the ending line: My dearly beloved child, your joy will know no bounds and your praise will be inexpressible when I, the Holy One, am the Only One in your heart. You have pointed us in the right direction. Good job!

You have beautifully illustrated the only offering wants and accepts. Great job! Congratulation on first place - see you in Level 2 after the break. :)

Hi Leslie. I just wanted to leave a quick note to congratulate you on your 1st place win in Level 1, and to let you know you also did extremely well overall, ranking 19th out of all the entries for the week.

It was a big week of entries, so you really deserve an extra pat on the back. If you would like to see the highest rankings for yourself, you can find them here:

The highest rankings are posted every Thursday evening on the Message Boards.

Hope to see you at the FaithWriters' Conference in August. Itís going to be an amazing time of inspiration, information and encouragement. (If Iíve already mentioned that to you, forgive me. Weíre just so excited about letting members know about this great gathering.)
