In this house, there are many rooms. Each room represents different areas of my life. One room is my family, one room is my studies, one room is my career, one room is my future, one room is my self-esteem, one room is my past, and the living room is ‘here and now’. I visited my ‘self-esteem’ room very often, and I held lots of pity parties there. Occasionally, I did visit ‘my past’ room, and I stayed there sometimes.
My family room is always crowded with all my family members; I had a big book of family problems inside. ‘My Studies’ was my life and my all; I thought it was the largest room and indeed I once thought that was the only room I had. I spent most of my time there. ‘My Future’ room wasn’t exist then.
Every room and in fact the whole house was dark before the light came into my life.
One day, I heard a loud knock. Where could this knock be? There was no door in my house, not even a window. Who was that knocking so persistent and so strong? What did he want? It didn’t take long to realize that He wanted me to open the door. To my amazement, I found a door, and there was Jesus who was standing outside and knocking at my door. I was moved and I opened the door for Him.
Here Jesus came into my life and light came into my house. Starting from ‘Here & Now’, it moves to ‘my studies’, ‘my self-esteem’, ‘my past’ and ‘my family’ and it open up new room ‘my future’.
I never knew my house was so filthy; there were rats, spider webs, cockroaches and indeed there was some unpleasant smell. Light has come in and I saw all these. It took me a while to clean them up. Jesus did not despise the conditions of my house and visited all my rooms. He came in initially as my guest and now He is the Master of this house. He alone holds the key to my life.
I am thankful that the light has come and I am no longer living in the dark.
