HE gets up from where he was sitting in the living room and came to stand behind her in the kitchen. She shivers at his closeness but at this very moment she is too scared to move away.
His hand weighs heavily on her shoulder and with his mouth right at her ear he whispers. “You might as well give up; you know no one will hear you.”
She could feel his long, devilish fingernails scratching her as he brushes away a strand of hair from her face. It feels like she is going to drown in the fear that washes over her.
“You belong to me now.” His words seep coldly through her skin to set in her heart.
“You weren’t good enough for him,’’ he continues “He only used you and left, just like that,” and he snaps his fingers. “Oh, you poor thing.” The dark sarcasm drips from his voice. “Don’t tell me you believed all his sweet little words and thought he felt anything for you?”
With a sudden movement he unexpectedly swings her around and then pushes her brutally against the kitchen cupboard. She lets out a cry of pain as her back slams against a door handle.
“And don’t think you can run to your Mr. God now, or don’t you know you deserve to die after what you have done,” he spits it out. Words that came flying towards her like daggers, penetrating her insides. Barely audible he adds “Its only you and me now.”
She cries helplessly as his presence smothers her.
“You said it was okay.” she whimpers. “You said because I really love him it’s okay,” but her words fall sorrowfully to the ground.
“Did I say that? That loving him enough would justify an affair?” With his chin between his thumb and forefinger he pretends to be deep in thought and then slowly he nods his head. “I did, didn’t I?”He let out such a horrific laugh she cringes. “But then again,” he continues “didn’t you know that I am called the father of all lies.”
Trying to defend herself she shouts at him. “I am not a bad person; I did not mean to hurt anybody.”
He comes towards her grabbing her arm. “Well, do you really think anyone is going to believe that and you have got to pay for what you have done don’t you think?”
“Leave me!” She tries to free herself from his grip but he pulls her so fiercely by the arm that she falls to the ground on her knees. He bends down; face to face with her and so close she could see her reflection in his eyes, putting her right in the middle of his wickedness. How long it is that see could hardly face anyone, scared they might see the devil in her eyes. Knowing he is to strong for her she gives up all resistance and with the brokenness inside her she watches as he takes a blade, cutting the flesh from her upper arm right down to her elbow, only deep enough to draw blood. Then back again.
She closes her eyes and takes in the pain; pain for loving someone that she was not supposed to love and believing all of the devils lies. For choosing to ignore all the warnings God gave her, trying to fight the temptation inside of her on her own, choosing to close the door on the goodness of God because only one kiss would hurt no one, until she was no longer in control of her feelings and of her actions. Fighting a losing battle against her emotions and what she felt for someone who then disappeared out of her life leaving her with nothing but emptiness. Emptiness she deserved for being the other woman. She doesn’t even know why he left, maybe he told his wife or maybe he just got tired of her or maybe...she does not want to think anymore. She opens her eyes to look at her blood covered arms. There are too many cuts to count, the blade still lying in her hand. Silent tears run over her cheeks and she closes her eyes again.
“Please Jesus, I need your goodness to forgive me, help me out of this because I cannot do it alone,” a desperate cry over her lips.
Carefully he picks her up in his arms and gently kisses her on the forehead. “I thought you never ask my child.”
