Just Right
Once upon a time Goldilocks, a rather adventurous girl, was wondering along the path of life. She had no direction nor inspiration in her life endeavors. As she encountered folks along her way, she often asked for their life message. She was always seeking. Could anyone possibly help her find her way?
One day, she happened upon a determined fellow. He was driven down the path of life with great ambition. He advised her to “find a vocation child. My career is my life path. Work is hard but my pay is good. I must be off, things to do. I’m busy, busy, busy.” He exclaimed as he hurried off. Goldilocks liked the idea of productivity but there was something unsettling about this corporate man. “Oh, his life is much too hard.” She declared.
Soon after, she wandered past a lad relaxing beside the side of the road. He countered the earlier mans advice. “Dude, that man’s way too much in a hurry. You need to relax and take time to enjoy life. No worries, man. Someone always comes along and gives me stuff I need. True, I depend on others to work for me but, hey, life is great right here.” Goldilocks was confused. “But what have you accomplished? “ She asked “Accomplished?” Came the response. Goldilocks shook her head and walked on. “He was much too soft” she sighed.
Finally, Goldilocks encountered a third man. There was peace about him that neither of her first encounters seem to have. “What is the key to the peace you possess sir?” “I rely on God to tell me where to go along this path.” He replied. “How do you do that sir?” she asked. “Through a relationship with His son. I talk with Him throughout my day and He directs each step.” “I’d like to have that peace and confidence, sir. It sound just right for me.” With that Goldilocks began to walk in a new direction.
Now, Goldilocks looks forward to each new day. She embarks along her life path directed by the Son of God. At day’s end she is often tired but always at peace. As she lays her head down, she breathes a little prayer. “Thank you, Lord, for this new life you have given me. It is not too hard and not too soft. This one is just right.” Amen
