In the beginning...

God created the heavens, which call us home, and the earth that longs for it’s one true King. He created us to bare His image. He created me. God had an idea and His idea was we would bare His image. So here we are created through Him.

From the dust of the earth...

He created us. Me. You. He had no special paints or brushes to finely sculpt man, but from the dust of the ground he created them and us. With the breath of His mouth He breathed life into our souls. The very mouth that speaks the truth and declares that what He created was very good also breathed from the tip of His lips, life into my very being. Like a gentle kiss placed on a woman for the very first time...so is His breath of life to us. The breath of His mouth dances throughout our lives and so it is that we take our very first breath of life.

A garden was planted...

A garden of paradise and joy unspeakable. He made the trees grow so they were not only good for food, but also pleasant to the sense of sight. With His very mouth He breathes life into us. With his hands he creates His own personal love gifts for us and with His eyes he creates beauty that we might see the completeness of His love. And it was so in the Garden of Eden.

Devoid of shame...

Stripped of everything that hinders they were unmistakably the ones created to bare His image. Completely open to Him who loves them. They were not hesitant of who they were created to be, they were not embarrassed or remorseful over anything openly exposed. They had no fear of who they were. And it was so that they were naked in the garden of paradise with God and had no shame or fear of who He created them to be because they were His own creation.

As a serpent who sneaks up slowly...

So is the fight in the woman. The serpent at a distance has no bite, but as a frog boils slowly in the pot so does our heart long for what we should not. Slowly thoughts of doubt and question slide into the belly of our lives. Questions of our worth and creation. And so with a poisonous tongue the serpent comes to bite and devour all that was created.

Bitten by bitterness...

The venom spreads to the woman's heart as she begins to feel unloved by the creator. Perhaps the one, who breathed life into her very being from His lips, was holding back. Thoughts of the one who formed her intimately may have something to hide. The one who loved her most was not the best. Roots form. Bitter poison flowing like a stream in her blood to the direction of her heart. And so she bites with bitterness. Without pleasure she tastes the first fruit of bitterness, resentment and fear which is the beginning of the end. No more joy unspeakable in paradise until God seals us with the breath of His kiss which will one day breathe life back into the bitter roots of our souls.

A little editing, maybe, on tenses and 1st/3rd stuff.
I liked the format, with the leads before paragraphs.

Boldly written and I really liked the easy to follow and readable format. Your thoughts are very concise and leave little doubt as to the message you want your writing to deliver.

Hi Alicia. I’m running a little late this week, but just wanted to leave a quick note to let you know your entry, Our Genesis, actually did very well in the Beginning and End Challenge. Although you didn't receive an award, you made it into the Highest Rankings for Level 1, placing 10th in that Level. There were a lot of entries this week, and competition in Level 1 is always very intense, so well done.

If you'd like to check the highest rankings for yourself, you can find them here:
http://www.faithwriters.com/Boards/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=25380

The highest rankings are posted every Thursday evening on the Message Boards.
Again, well done. :-)

Hope to see you at the FaithWriters' Conference in August.

With love, Deb (Challenge Coordinator)
