On our arrival into Belize, my husband and I listened to the announcements on the airplane, explaining the procedures for entering the country. There were certain documents that needed to be completed before we deplaned. Certain guidelines needed to be followed in order to maintain a level of security for their country. After walking off the plane, we were hustled down and around the corridor into the Customs area and behind a long line of people. Person after person walked up from behind the yellow line and explained why they would like to cross over and what their intention would be. We, as foreign travelers, plan ahead of time by applying for the correct paperwork, thus basically getting ‘pre-qualified’ in the form of a passport. Then the big moment arrives only to be interrogated and stared down as though we are guilty of a crime. Our only “crime” was the hope of snorkeling in their blue waters and sun bathing motionlessly on the white sand. Yet, as I stood watching those in front of me, it occurred to me how our God of the Universe will one day be behind the big white desk. He will watch lovingly as His children approach the counter, hoping to find permission to enter His paradise. He will search through His own paperwork looking eagerly for our names, and He will query us to see if we have come prepared. You see, our passport into heaven will be our relationship with His Son. And one day, God intends on asking us the correct questions to enter into His country. “Why should I let you into my Kingdom?” He will say. How will you respond? Will you have proof through your life and the knowledge of His Son that you are prepared? I spent weeks preparing for my passport to go to a foreign beach, yet how much time have I spent investing in the future of heaven? We have an eternal passport in Jesus. He came to prepare a way and to pay the price. Some day we will pass from this port on earth to an eternal one. Yet so many people do not think to get prepared. It was a surreal moment for me, as I stood there watching the hustle of Customs. Atlas it came our turn to show proof that we had permission to come into their country, and indeed we passed through with ease into a beautiful place. And I am certain that day after day people pass on from this life into unfamiliar territory, still how concerned are we about their ability to do so.

I liked the story, but I think that if we space paragraphs it is a little neater, and easier on our eyes to read. Thank you for sharing your experience. God bless ya, littlelight

Enjoyed seeing your thoughts and the way you used your experience in Belize as an illustration. Thank you for sharing.
