You gave me the inspiration
To go out to the nations
And tell the whole word of Your love
It was something that You told me was right
But you didn’t tell me that I’d have to fight
To show everyone what you’ve done
Shouldn’t it be, that much easier
When the One who’s in charge is Lord of everything
Shouldn’t I be firm
And know exactly where to go
And not be pulled back and forth
Why can’t I just see
Every single decision I make
And every single time I must brake
You’ve told me that there’s a reason
For a time it’s all okay
And then too soon after You’re just too far away
Where’s my Someone to believe in
Shouldn’t it be, something I can see
A certain difference, something I can notice
Shouldn’t I be confident
And have a plan exactly in place
So I know where I’m going
How come I can’t see
Why can’t it be so obvious like
The burning hot or, the freezing cold?
It seems like there should be a way to let me know
If I should take the path to the left or
Ride away to the right
All I know now is that I can’t figure out why
You gave me the inspiration
To go out to the nations
And tell the whole word of Your love
It was something that You told me was right
But you didn’t tell me that I’d have to fight
To show everyone what you’ve done
Every part of me wishes to finish this song, to let the bridge flow into some sort of happy ending. But this is where I am in my life. And too often, it’s where people end up.
The rest of our life is unwritten. There is so much more to all of it than any person on this earth could make up on their own. To get to the happy ending, you’ve got to burn through the heat, and freeze through the cold. Is that not what truly makes the end so much more delightful, when you can look back and see how God’s gotten you there? The best part of being a writer is making up the stories, and creating the trials and tribulations that get the characters there in the end. They don’t know what’s going on anymore than we know what’s going to happen in our own lives.
Why can’t it be so obvious like
The burning hot or, the freezing cold?
It seems like there should be a way to let me know
If I should take the path to the left or
Ride away to the right
All I know now is that I can’t figure out why
And I don’t know which way to go.
