“Young woman, would you like to take a trip to Paradise?” he asked.
Startled, she responded, “Excuse me. Who are you? Where am I?”
“Would you like to take a trip to Paradise?” he inquired a second time.
I do not know why he did not answer my questions, but I do not want to appear rude so I will kindly converse with him. “I’ve never been to Paradise before, but it sounds nice. Will you tell me more about it?” I asked.
“Paradise is a place which holds new experiences and has an atmosphere beyond what you could ever imagine. There is no need for doctors there, or any type of medications or even something as simple as tissues. The relationships there are everlasting,” he described. His eyes peered deeply into mine as he asked, “Would you like to get a glance of what this delightful place looks like?”
I do not understand this guy. Is he for real? Well, he sounds passionate about this utopia of his, so I will go along with him and take a peek at it. “Yes, I will take a look at this place that you call Paradise,” I replied.
“I must tell you that you will be receiving only a small glimpse of it, but I think that will be enough for you to want to take the trip. If you will look to your right, I will show you an image on the wall,” he explained. As he points to the wall, I notice a scar on his hand. I wonder how he got that, but it does not seem appropriate to ask.
I cannot believe what is before me! How can I be in awe over one single image, over a mere glance of a place I have never seen? I am speechless as I view the picture of golden streets, mansions beyond number and peaceful, smiling faces everywhere. And yet there is even more that absolutely takes my breath away. It is as if I am not merely looking at what is before me, but that I am experiencing what this image has to offer on a level deeper than I have ever known - one that goes beyond emotion and grips my inner being. How can this be? Though I do not know the answer, of one thing I am sure. If I am affected this much by a simple glimpse of Paradise, it is certainly a place where I must go.
With enthusiasm, I turned to him and said, “I would like to take that trip to Paradise, sir. What will I need to pack? How do I need to prepare for the trip? I will need a passport I am sure.”
With a gentle voice and love in his eyes, he explained, “You will not need to bring anything with you or do anything in preparation for the trip. You may come just as you are. A passport will not be necessary. I have known who you are for many years. I noticed you saw the scar on my hand earlier. I have one just like it on the other hand. In order for me to offer this trip to Paradise to you and to all mankind, it was necessary for me to die on a cross and take all of your sins upon me. You cannot enter Paradise on your own. If you will trust me and confess to me that you believe all that I have told you is true, you may begin your journey to Paradise. It will start right where you are and once you pass from here to the hereafter, you will remain in Paradise for eternity.”
Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep. With that image still etched in my mind and that sensation remaining within me, I ponder what I have just seen and heard. It reminds me of what my friend was trying to tell me the other day. I will call her right now and tell her that I want to take a trip to Paradise.
