The waters came and filled the banks from everywhere around.
The river rose at a rapid pace, as water flowed across the ground.
People gathered from home to home, preparing for the ride.
They piled sandbags on the banks as they worked there side by side.
Each one stepped up to do their share, whether rich or poor or lame.
It was man and woman and even children, most would go unnamed.
The hours counted as time went by, but no one seemed to care.
Everyone shared a common goal with a heartfelt need and care.
The water rose above the height of the highest record made.
It left some people with limited access; to their homes they had to wade.
Some basements filled with gushing waters leaving destruction in its path.
And one and all would feel some form of the rivers mighty wrath.
A week would pass with the river cresting, and all would feel relieved.
Each one who received some help had new hope to believe.
But hold on tight, were not done yet, the forecast just came out.
In another week or two, there would be another bout.
And once again just like before, the water begins to rise.
The media will sound the alert, “come help”, will be their cries.
Then people will appear from everywhere, ready to wage the fight.
Even though they knew the time, could end way in the night.
At the time of this story writing, the future is unclear.
We don’t know how it will end, with victory or with tear.
Its times like these we put our trust in a God who holds the reigns.
For without Him there would be no hope of getting through these pains.
Some will ask, “How could God do this?” then put the blame on Him.
These are the ones who have no hope, their futures looking dim.
For a loving God gave them free will, and most in sin will live.
They will not turn their hardened hearts, to Him their life to give.
I know for sure this flood will pass and the waters will recede.
Then many heroes’ will get their accolades for doing their great deed.
I wonder when all is said and done, “Will they really see?”
That all that Jesus has ever asked, “Is please, Just Stand By Me?”
