Praises rang from every lip in that cell. It was heavenly and the presence of God flowed in that building. I knelt on the floor, weeping. I felt loved, cherished, and redeemed. It was like heaven had indeed come down and Jesus was abiding with us. But as I worshipped, a change occurred; a transformation like no earthly being could fathom, began. I stood in awe as everything and everyone altered. Had we been somehow rescued from the chains of our flesh?
I was no longer in some building with chains around my feet, I was beyond. I was in the most beautiful place my eyes had ever seen and the magnificence was breathtaking.
Before me was a throne, and lightning that rose from around it. There was someone on it. He had the appearance of ruby and jasper but I could not discern his face. A rainbow like emerald encircled the throne and about me, were twenty four elders, with gold crowns resting on their head.
I gazed in wonder. There was no need for light. The glory that resounded from the throne shone upon the whole terrain. It was transfiguring so I fell to my feet. The twenty four elders began worshipping the One seated on the throne.
Flashes of lightning, rumbles and pearls of thunder echoed from the throne. Dread filled me. I was in the presence of the Most High God. The glory around me caused praise to flow from my lips.
And then a voice like sounds of rushing waters echoed,
Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world
I looked and I saw a lamb, seated on the throne. He looked like he had been slain. Tears stroke my eyes, as I beheld the abundant love of this willing sacrifice. I wept, indeed I cried. There was no love like this. This was He, the One who died for me. I had dreamed of this day so many times but this was more than my physical mind had ever imagined. His love- there was nothing like it. Around me, appeared a great multitude of people, from every nation and tribe. They were dressed in white and had been washed by the blood of the lamb.
The precious blood of the Lamb
We bowed down in worship- adoration for our Savior, spilling over,
Worthy is the Lamb
Who was slain
For with your blood, you purchased us from sin
Members of every tribe, nation and people
You made us to be a kingdom and a priesthood to serve the Lord
And o reign with you on earth
The angels with a beauty unknown to any earthly being, encircled the Lord’s throne and sang in angelic tunes,
Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain
To receive all glory, honor and praise!
I watched this tender but broken lamb, and my heart was engulfed by His love. He loved me. He chose to die for me. He wanted to die for me. Was there anything like this love? Here around me, were a multitude of people washed by His blood.
We held no sin, like we never had been sinners; no evil, like we weren’t from cursed mankind. What the serpent had planned for evil, the Lord had turned around for good.
The voice like a mighty rolling waters echoed again,
Here before the throne of God
They stand and shall serve him day and night in his temple…
He shall spread his tent over them
Never again will they hunger
Never again will they thirst
The sun will not beat down on them…
For the Lamb…will be their shepherd…
And he will wipe away every tear from their eyes.
Every tear, every agony of heart, my Lord was going to remove. I moved to him and knelt before him, who was slain for my sake. His feeble hands touched me and I wept. I felt whole again. I worshipped and wept for joy. But as I did, the music began changing, the voices rang differently.
I looked up and saw I was back in the cell, with several other men and women, still worshipping. I wished to return but still I was content. I had gotten a glimpse of the kingdom to come and even with this cuffs around my legs, I wasn’t disheartened, for I knew that one day he would wipe all my tears away.
