I am a country that is landlocked,
And on the western side.
My populations over thirteen million,
In the dessert they can hide.

I am almost twice the size of Texas,
And have no border by the sea.
There are seven countries all around me,
From Chad over too Mali.

My transportation is very primitive,
Most roads will not be paved.
I have an international airport,
From which many visitors have waved.

I hold the largest uranium deposits,
But the world demand is low.
I also have crops and livestock,
Which rate my economy very slow.

In the year two thousand,
I qualified for debt relief.
My religion is mostly Muslim,
With small Animist and Christian belief.

I export cowpeas and onions,
Garlic, peppers, potatoes, and wheat.
Over 80% of my country is dessert,
So I have more than my share of heat.

So if you come and visit me,
It would be good to know my name.
If by now you havenít guessed it,
A world map you should proclaim.

Please come for our awesome music,
Then read the writings of Andree Clair.
Whose writings included childrenís books,
Then youíll feel like youíve been there.

My Name Is Niger.

Nice poem, and fun guessing game, though perhaps some of the evocative images of Niger might have been better than bare facts to draw people in and make them interested in the country.

A fun poem and a good riddle! There were a few spelling mistakes which were a slight distraction, but you introduced some nice little details and I learned some things about Niger by reading this. You must have done some intricate research to know they export cowpeas, onions and garlic!!!

This was a fun Niger-trivia poem. I learned a lot about Niger with rythm.

I was trying to figure out which country you were speaking of from line one. Nicely done! Perhaps you could go beyond the facts you could read in a book and go deeper into the people of this country. It may help tug at the readers heart.

Good use of facts. Great way to promote the country.
