Sleeping Giant
How many tried to wake you sleeping giant of a land, two oceans splashing on your shores and have you raised your hand.
Oh land of sacred mountains where the people of the Indus dwell in foggy shadows from an ancient time.
Bengal Bay seems never quenched from such majestic peaks, the creeping thistle and the crab apple make painted smiles upon your dawns.Yet still you sleep in slumber sweet with strangers on your shores.
So many tounges are spoken in the backdoors of your dusty streets, are you not troubled by this clamor, the bells and jangles in the raven skys.
They dance in celebration to their many different Gods, but have they heard the music of the king of kings,on your ancient muddy walls.
Kerala and the Mahabharata,in all your lengthly words, your high and lofty goals, here are three more for you to quote when you wake from slumber sweet,God is Love.Write that on the tablets of your heart and mark it well for he is listening on himalayas peaks.
The goddess Kali she has drowned in the mud of your past days, but Christ the Son of God,his hands stretch, from sea across to sea.
Surat how many pirates have you hidden, your shiny stones dont lie.we know the blood they carry and the hungry child still cries.
Amritsar I wonder how immortal you truly are, your golden temple and shrines of all.You are bright with glory still but Mohammads sons know of your vicious ways as they fled your wrath.
Barabanki many saintly prayers fall from your ancient walls.Lord Rama he can not wash away your sins,in his attactive eyes.Keep lit your torch of harmony for so it is with God.
New Delhi you seem to not belong in this most ancient land.who made you ?what trumpets play in your steets? It seem someone brought you here like a stowaway at sea.
The elephant grows weary, and the bengals stripes are fading from your constant snores.Wake up sleeping giant the cobra hisses in the night.India oh India Christ died to bring you light.

What a beautiful ending.

There are a lot of vivid descriptions and beautiful phrases in this piece.

Spaces between paragraphs will make it easier to read. Also, remember to proofread. Maybe having someone else do a quick grammar and spelling will help.

I also really liked the title as it fits India well.

Hi Dennis. Just wanted to leave a quick note to let you know your entry "Sleeping Giant," actually did very well in the India Challenge. Although you didn't receive an award, you made it into the Highest Rankings for Level 1, placing 12th in that Level. Competition in Level 1 is always very intense, so well done.

If you'd like to check the highest rankings for yourself, you can find them here:
http://www.faithwriters.com/Boards/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=361615

The highest rankings are posted every Thursday evening on the Message Boards.

You definitely deserve a pat on the back. Well done. With love, Deb (Challenge Coordinator)
