This story got started twenty nine years ago,
We headed up north for our honeymoon show.
There were places to go and some sites to see,
We were having such fun just exploring her and me.

We were so very young just out of teen years.
This country up north would bring out some fears.
We never had traveled outside the USA.
But we were on an adventure, what could you say?

We rode in my pickup and we snuggled up close.
We were driving on love with the heaviest dose.
Around Lake Superior then through Winnipeg.
Then back to Minnesota, the very last leg.

But while up in Canada some sites we would see.
Which now seem quite hard from my memory to free.
I remember a campground where we slept in a tent.
To sleep with the stars was just “Heaven sent”.

And now here I sit in this present day time.
Just writing my story and I put it to rhyme.
This year will be thirty since this story began.
We’re still the best friends as we’re held in God’s hand.

Now who knows the future and what it might bring?
We might just travel north for our thirty year fling.
No matter the case she’s still by my side.
We’re always together when we go for a ride.

Maybe this time I’ll remember the sites.
It better be summer for the winter air bites.
The sites that we see we’ll appreciate more.
Through the eyes of our Savior His beauty will pour.

I thank you dear Lord for this country above.
May their people remember they are covered in love.
For they are our neighbors in a much colder land.
And together we’re stronger as we’re held in Your hand.

A lovely reminiscence of your honeymoon. You have a lucky bride!

A few of the rhymes seemed a little bit "forced" to me. A little bit of work on finding more natural rhymes would bump this up a notch.

I enjoyed reading this poem, very much.

This is really a beautiful way to remember the beginning of your marriage.

Hi Brian. I'm running a week late, but just wanted to leave a quick note to let you know your entry "A Trip to Remember," actually did very well in the Canada Challenge. Although you didn't receive an award, you made it into the Highest Rankings placing 12th in Level 1.

Competition in Level 1 is always very intense, so you did extremely well.

If you'd like to check the highest rankings for yourself, you can find them here:
http://www.faithwriters.com/Boards/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=24328

The highest rankings are posted every Thursday evening on the Message Boards.

You definitely deserve a pat on the back. Well done. With love, Deb (Challenge Coordinator)
